ASCO-CAP Guidelines for Breast Predictive Factor Testing

In this lecture, Dr. Hammond explains the rationale behind the development of American Society of Clinical Oncology, College of American Pathology (ASCO-CAP) guidelines for breast predictive factor testing which were developed to emphasize importance of these tests and the unity between these organizations regarding these tests. The guidelines include how samples should be handled in the pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical phases of testing which is important to both pathologists and clinicians. The guidelines for HER2 were established in 2007 and will be updated in 2011. The ER guideline was published in 2010.

Originally presented January 21st, 2011 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
