Dr. David Petron, Assistant Professor (clinical) is a primary care orthopaedic/sports medicine specialist. He originally trained in family practice and then completed a fellowship in primary care orthopaedics and sports medicine at Michigan State University. Dr. Petron is the Director of Primary Care Sports Medicine and the team physician for the University of Utah athletic teams. He is also a team physician for the U.S. Ski Team and is the Medical Director for the Park City Ski Injury Clinic. David Petron, M.D. specializes in non-operative treatment of the spine, shoulder, knee, ankle, and foot problems. He also has a special interest in overuse injuries that lead to tendonitis. He utilizes the latest treatments for this, including shock wave therapy (Sonarex), for chronic tendon problems. Dr. Petron also has a special interest in all nonoperative treatments for osteoarthritis and performs various injections (such as Synvisc) to alleviate joint pain.
