Dr. Frank is medical director of Analytic Biochemistry and Calculi and Manual Chemistry, and co-director of Mass Spectrometry at ARUP Laboratories, and a professor (clinical) with the Spencer Fox Eccles School of Medicine at the University of Utah. She received her PhD in organic chemistry from the University of Colorado at Boulder, completed a clinical internship in pathology at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs, and trained as a postdoctoral fellow in pharmacy at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. She finished postdoctoral fellowship training in clinical chemistry at the University of Utah School of Medicine. Dr. Frank is certified in clinical chemistry by the American Board of Clinical Chemistry and is a fellow of the Association for Diagnostics & Laboratory Medicine. Her research interests are focused on measurement of biogenic amines, porphyrins, and vitamins using high-performance liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry; biochemical assessment of nephrolithiasis risk; determination of calculi composition; and the use of vitamin testing to evaluate health status.
