Last Year's Conference Program

Purpose

These workshops are designed for surgical pathologists. Participation is also open to clinical physicians and oncology specialists interested in surgical pathology, cytopathology, and hematopoietic pathology. The content of the workshops is determined by previous participant requests, issues in recent literature, recent advances in surgical pathology, and by distinguished faculty who are active consultants in their fields. Topics will include in-depth reviews of diagnostic surgical pathology, insight into difficult differential diagnoses, use of immunohistochemistry and new technology to improve diagnosis, and demonstration of newly recognized entities.

Objective

By the completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Use clinical and morphologic criteria to solve diagnostic problems
  • Enumerate differential diagnoses for selected lesions
  • Apply new technology to improve diagnosis
  • Encourage more effective pathologist-clinician communication
  • Conform to existing laboratory regulations and anticipate new regulations
