Laboratory Medicine: Winter CME Course in Surgical Pathology Workshop

Objective

By the completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

• Identify the proper procedure for the gross examination of diseased tissues and demonstrate how to select areas to be processed for histopathology.
• Demonstrate a microscopic examination to detect proteins and certain cancers.
• Describe an immunohistochemistry examination to detect proteins and certain cancers.
• Assess a cytopathology examination of loose cells using best practice cytology techniques.
• Identify molecular diagnostic techniques in specific anatomic pathology diagnosis.
