Dear ACLPS Participants:

The Department of Pathology at the University of Utah School of Medicine welcomes you to the 54th Annual Academy of Clinical Laboratory Physicians and Scientists meeting, Lab Medicine 2019.

The Scientific Session will begin at 8:00 am on Thursday, May 30th, and continue until noon Saturday, June 1st, with presentations on current progress in mass spectrometry, clinical informatics, hematology, coagulation, molecular diagnostics, microbiology, and automation.

Friday morning will commence with the Paul E. Strandjord Young Investigator Award Program oral and poster presentations and continue with the Cotlove Award lecture, “Making Molecular Diagnostics Faster”. The Cotlove Lectureship awardee is Dr. Carl Wittwer from the University of Utah.

Saturday sessions will include the Ellis Benson Award lecture, “Examining the Mechanisms and Consequences of Red Blood Cell Alloimmunization” given by awardee Dr. Sean Stowell and research reports by Strandjord Young Investigator Grant recipients, Dr. Thea Brennan-Krohn and Dr. Thomas Durant.

For the first time at ACLPS, Educational Short Courses will be offered. Educational sessions on infectious disease and serology are scheduled Saturday afternoon following the meeting.
